In horsemanship yielding can be applied to physical exercises or mental participation. Yielding means submission to a force or influence outside of you.
In horsemanship the word yield is mostly used with physical exercises where a horse moves in response to pressure. Some example are;
- Leg yield
- Moving the hindquarters
- Moving the forehand
- Lowering the horse’s head
- Creating personal space
Like most concepts or physical exercises in horsemanship, yielding can be used in a beneficial, neutral or destructive way.
